  • Why learn CPR?

Because there's nothing to lose...but a life!

The value of early CPR by bystanders is that it can "buy time" by maintaining some blood flow to the heart and brain during cardiac arrest.

  • Why learn how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator)?

"Early CPR and defibrillation, within the first 3-5 minutes after collapse, plus early advanced care can result in high (greater than 50%) long term survival rates for witnessed ventricular fibrillation." www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml

  • Why should my organization have an AED?

80 seconds can make the difference between life and death!

"Survivors received shocks, on average, within 5.6 minutes of cardiac arrest.  Among those who died, the shock was administered, on average, just 80 seconds later." CPR Wall St. Journal March 2000

"When I say one minute makes a difference, our statistics bear that out," says Roger White, medical director of Rochester's early-defibrillation program. CPR Wall St. Journal March 2000
